World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to boost the gear score of an item to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats like crit chance, attack damage PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Many weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a group. This bonus may exceed the damage a weapon upgrade can do on its own.
upgrade item of upgrading a weapon is based on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade the gun will increase until it needs an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. While this is usually beneficial, it can have some negative effects as well. Upgrades can render items impossible to use, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
It is possible to upgrade armor items to boost their performance. In the case of chests or helms this will increase its defense base while gloves and belts improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it can sometimes reduce its value.
The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will get when upgraded, along with their relative values. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in the weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circular arrows within the item menu. This will reroll an item and alter its stats, but not reset the weapon's levels, or tie it to the account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make all the difference to your survivability. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons fire, magic, and other. This can make it easier to traverse difficult areas. In general, the greater defense you can offer your character, the greater health you'll receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total each of which requires you to complete a special side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a large group of adversaries in most cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, giving the protection needed to survive an entire raid with a handful of friends.
You can't upgrade your armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or spell power. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have a few upgrades of the chest armor and helmets to let you stealthy battle some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, give a temporary effect. There are five kinds of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. In addition the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a table or the Alchemist's chest. However, the cost of upgrading changes depending on what type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI which allows you to select the potions that you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll provide when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it won't degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change the name of the potion.
There were a few updates to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For instance, splash potions now have an average duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds shown on the item hover display). The potion table is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. The same applies to using a potion in an empty cauldron. This will deplete the potion, and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions that are brewed using dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion effect can be extended by adding redstone to it. The table of potion ingredients is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, for instance, the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece jewelry. It could also refer to a small ornament or object that serves a function but isn't important such as a trinket. In some cultures, a trinket is used to signify affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons or armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades to trinkets are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new ones. You can upgrade a trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the old one, and will come with an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Once the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase both their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players which makes them an attractive alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first, followed by their secondary gear and other equipment that they will not replace in the near future (such as a ring or an cloak). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl once they are no longer useful and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
